Flag Raising

Title: Flag Raising
Location: Oshawa City Hall
Description: Come and join us in honouring the flag of Portugal in what represents the official recognition of the Portuguese community’s presence and importance in Oshawa.

The Portuguese flag will be raised on May 13 and fly above Oshawa City Hall until June 10, 2014 to celebrate two important events for all Luso-Canadians – the 61st Anniversary of Portuguese Immigration to Canada and Portugal Day (which many recognize as Dia de Camões). This initiative was put forth by the Northern Portugal Cultural Centre and the Oshawa Portuguese Club.

Our celebration will begin at Oshawa City Hall with the official flag raising ceremony at 4pm. This will be followed by a reception at the Oshawa Portuguese Club beginning at 5pm with dinner being served at 5:30pm – Caldo Verde, BBQ sardines, potatoes and salad. This is a free event (cash bar).

Your presence is of key importance to pay this homage to Portugal and Durham Region’s Portuguese immigrant community with grandeur.

Please RSVP (yes or no) by Friday May 9th. We look forward to your response.
